“Arrivals and Departures,” shows the wide range of style the boys of Silverstein contain. The tracks on the eleven song CD bounce between an incredible mix of singing and screaming. The choruses are perfectly orchestrated to be as catchy as possible so that you can’t get them out of your head.“Sounds of the Sun,” the first track on the CD starts out with a powerful scream, showing the potential of the vocalist and foretelling that the next ten tracks on the CD are to be equally amazing. The song flows into more of a punk sounding chorus that gets your attention, and makes you want to sing along to lines like, “Do you always want to be the one, running from yourself?” The CD continues with “Bodies and Words,” which starts out with skillful guitar playing, showing that Silverstein isn’t just about vocals, and that they’re also talented instrumentally. “I’m not here to judge you, I’m just here to tell you what you’ve done wrong,” the stinging lyrics of the last track, “True Romance.” Unlike the first ten tracks this song is perfect for the last track. This song contains the hardest hitting lyrics and although changing their tune and going for something a little softer and slower they definitely can pull it off. This song is the last track on the CD and is worth listening to the first ten tracks for. The only flaw in the CD is that when first listening you feel like you’ve heard the guitar riffs before. Also, with the lyrics, they seem like they’ve all been done before and their isn’t too much originality in their music, it seems like it’s all been done before. Each of the choruses on all eleven tracks are catchy and will leave you wanting to scream them along side the CD when listening. Overall this is Silverstein’s best yet, they’ve shown their potential in earlier albums and it has prevailed in “Arrivals and Departures.”
