I’m sure many Marylanders have heard Brighter Shades at a show in the past year, but with their first album Brighter Shades will really add something to the Baltimore scene’s reputation.
Combine a fresh sound while staying in the traditional pop genre the trio definitely put a twist on the typical with additions of mandolin, trumpet, trombone, and tenor sax.
This mixture is somewhat like Butch Walker meets The Beatles with a dash of early blues style. The closing song, "You Shine So Bright," sounds as if it is straight out of an off Broadway musical and is also my favorite track on the album.
This is one album I am definitely adding to my iPod, and you should do the same! Keep up the good work, boys.
