Rescue Aurora, straight out of Boston, blows their guy-fronted counterparts out of the water. Their latest release, Things We Promised To Keep is a unique mix of indie-rock and singer-songwriter. The lead singer, Brittany, brings something new to the table of our dying music scene. Her voice is elegant, yet rocks out harder than most female singers currently. Opening track, “Chances” gets the ball rolling and is one of those songs you want to scream at the top of your lungs. Brittany’s powerhouse voice is full of energy and passion, which is very obvious in this incredibly catchy track. “Make This Real”, the second track off the album has rock-able verses and wonderful lyrics that any girl can relate to: “Are you sure that you know what you need? Are you sure you can promise? ‘Cuz I can’t stand to say goodbye again.” “Until You Say So” is the track that really stands out from the rest of the album. Incredible guitar, bass and drum parts compliment the vocals wonderfully. You can hear a bit of Hayley Williams (Paramore) meets Sara Bareilles in this track. Cliché as it sounds; the only bad part about this album is that it is not a full length. I would love to hear at least four more songs on this album, because if they are even half as good as the six already on it, I would not be disappointed.
