Arms still linked you open the van door, and try to appear surprised that the van is vacant. "I have no idea where they are," you say to Shelly in a pretty unconvincing voice. You clear a spot. "Have a seat.”
"Lay down, be still. Don't worry talk they will."
Pillows and sheets coat the dusty grey van. Whoever was in the van last had left a movie on so the background noise filled the tightly enclosed space easily. As you shift some junk around to make space for yourself, it begins to drizzle, which means loading in and out is going to be a bitch tonight.
"I love the rain," you say to Shelly, because her eyes seem transfixed on the drops collecting on the window. Your arm goes around her as you sit cuddled up on the chair. Before you get your chance to make a move the van door swings over.
"The lights out, I still hear the rain."
"Oh sorry, dude," your guitarist says half-heartedly. "It's cool," you say back with annoyance in your voice. "I'm tryna party tonight!" he says, clearly no longer acknowledging that there's an individual in the van whom he has never met.
Your guitarist never seems to know what's going on seeing as you've already got your party plans for the night but this gives you a good opportunity to send out the invites. When you throw a party, people come, no matter when they get an invitation.
"And I've got your invitation to be disappointed"
As you whip out your sidekick and send out a mess text, you say to Shelly, "that's my guitarist, don't mind his manners. Since we're on the subject, wanna come hang tonight after the show? I'm having a few people over. Should be a good time."
Unbestowed to Shelly, by a few, you mean 50 or so, and you'll probably get smashed, but she doesn't need to know all that while your hand rests on her hip.
"Our heads down in the back of the van"
Before she has to opportunity to answer her cell phone goes off, upon looking at the ID she says, "I'll take this outside."
THIS IS CHARM CITY AND THEY CAN’T MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU.
