"I wanna know what it's like to be awkward and innocent"
You’re going to be late, you think to yourself. You can’t be late. Your mom finally let you go to the show, and now you’re going to be late. You heard they’re playing first. You’ll be devastated if you miss them.
You’ve been planning your outfit for days, and you’ve told everyone you know where you’ll be tonight. Too bad your friends don’t really like local bands, you’ll be fine without them.
You’ll be careful, you say reassuring your concerned mother as she stares in horror at the oddest assortment of teenagers she’s ever seen. You rush out of the mini van before she changes her mind.
You get this sense that you’re not welcome as you look around at these kids, who’s MySpace page’s you’ve been lurking for the last few days. It’s like your first day of middle school all over again, this time, you’re the only awkward one in the crowd.
"From that moment you'll be out of place and underdressed."
Step inside, they’re setting up. There’s not too many people inside. You go up front, don’t look around. Hopefully you won’t notice that they’re all making fun of you. You’re not here for them anyway.
Stare up at the stage as they play their song, in awe of the singer. Did he just smile at you?! All bright eyed & bushy tailed you’re glued to the stage, singing the words like your life depends on it.
They get off stage and he actually talks to you! You grin and giggle and ask for a hug. Get your t-shirt signed, talk for a while. Who’s he looking at? You turn your head around… You turn your head back and he’s not there anymore. He’s walking towards that girl, and you’ve become insignificant…
"I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare "
It's CHARM CITY and you're beginning to know your place.
