[Christine:] So you've been with the band from the beginning. How do you think the band has progressed and developed since the start?
[Ryan:] We have been through alot of obstacles some good and some bad( mostly bad) haha but it has made us stronger as a group. Its been a great build, from being home in chicago having noone know who you are to in a year having a record out and people actually coming to shows and loving what your doing. Alot has happened in a short amount of time.
[Christine:] You guys have immerge as a major force from the biggest music scene in the world right now, Chicago, were you expecting all of this to come about and to become so big in only 2 and a half years?
[Ryan:] With all this amazing talent coming out of chicago its hard for you to get people to listen but I know this band has something special to offer. We try to relay the message of enjoying life, and i think our fans like that. There are so many bands out there that use death or sadness as a way to relate to kids we just do it alittle different!
[Christine:] How do you think you guys differ from the bands you've shared the stage with?
[Ryan:] I believe life imitates art, and i think that in our songs you can just feel how much we put into them. It doesnt stop at the stage though. If you come to one of our shows, we are always hanging out. Unlike other bands who sit in their van or who couldnt care less about who bought their cd. We never once thought wed get this far, and every person that enjoys what were doing we appreciate.
[Christine:] It's great you like to hang out with your fans at shows, how do you spend your time off tour?
[Ryan:] We never get alot of time off its normally a day here or there. But when i do get home i love to sleep in my own bed and to have my mom haha cook me some good food. Being on the road you basically live in a van, and you never get to eat that great so its always nice.
[Christine:] So do you get recgonized alot?
[Ryan:] haha well not a whole lot, there have been a few times around the country which is totally wierd, but if I ever go to the mall in chicago thats where it happens most frequently.
[Christine:] Do you still feel connected with you hometown?
[Ryan:] what do you mean?
[Christine:] do you still go home and see the same fans at shows, do you have huge shows when you come back from tour, do you have the some of the same friends?
[Ryan:] Whenever we have shows in chicago they are Insane! I love playing chicago because i never thought wed having kids know all the words and go crazy, so its a great accomplishment to come back home and seeing kids really enjoy what we are doing. When i get home i dont really get to see alot of my olds friends just because they are all in college, but we still get to see people we care about.
[Christine:] Besides Chicago whats your favorite city to play in?
[Ryan:] I love to play in Los Angeles especially this venue call the Chain Reaction because kids in the oc are just amazing. Also NYC is always a great show as well, Its hard to pick favortires though.
[Christine:] So any bands from Chicago we should look out for?
[Ryan:] Keep your eyes open for October Fall!
[Christine:] (haha) We just did an interview with them. We've defiently got our eyes open for them!
[Ryan:] Yea those are good friends of mine, great guys!
[Christine:] They spoke highly of you guys, and the rest of the gang from Chicago haha.
[Christine:] Now, on June 1st you boys are playing at Ottobar in Baltimore, you've played there before, but why should everyone come out this time to see you guys?
[Ryan:] Its going to be a great show, alot of other good bands like Emanuel, and My American Heart. Im excited about this set we are playing on this tour, alot of songs and we will do our best to put on an amazing show for you!
[Christine:] I think that will conclude the interview. Thanks so much for doing it. We can't wait to see you guys around here in June.
[Ryan:] thanks sooo much i really appreciate it!
